History of Resistance; The chemical attacks on girl's schools
History of Resistance; The chemical attacks on girls’ schools:
Young women have been at the forefront of culture and education since the beginning of the Iranian renewal. The "Women, Life, Freedom" movement, however, has begun a new chapter in drawing a superior vision for the future of women's cultural presence in Iran. The chemical attacks of the last few months on primarily female-attended schools are a reminder of Iran’s history of resistance. A resistance that has defied criticism and defiance since the first girl's School by Bibi Khanum Astrabadi was established in 1870.
This webinar will be hosted by Sarah Eskandari with our esteemed guest speaker Dr. Homa Hoodfar, a prominent anthropologist and professor emerita of Concordia University.
The history of Iran’s struggle regarding female education, its current conditions, and the vision for the future of Iranian female students will be discussed.
