“Non-violent Resistance: From Theory to Practice”

“Non-violent Resistance: From Theory to Practice” As a preamble, it's noteworthy to mention that questioning the place of violence within the revolution and theorizing about nonviolent paths of revolt has been a longstanding discussion within Iranian communities worldwide; with close to 13 years passing since the initial inception of the theory. The Women. Life. Freedom movement has shone a new light onto this theory and has called into play parts of its theoretical framework, albeit through a critical lens. In the past few weeks, through the tireless efforts of Farhad Meisami, the topic of non-violent resistance has once again gained traction. The principles of nonviolent Resistance by Micheal Negler (@mettacenterorg), one of the pioneers of the study of nonviolent resistance, is also translated into Farsi by Farhad Meisami, and can be considered one of the most influential pieces of literature within the field. The Global Confederation of Iranian Students (@gcis.iran) has invited Micheal Negler, in an attempt to provide a better and more productive connection between academia and public concerns. This online event was held on Saturday, 25th of February.
