“Woman. Life. Freedom: A Point of No Return for Iran?”
Michael Nagler, an outstanding non-violence theorist and professor emeritus of Classic and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley:
- How can we use non-violence in the face of an extremely violent and heartless regime?
- The violence of the regime is their weak point and we can use it against them
- We can switch from a confrontational mode to a conversational mode..and Mahsa’s charter might be a good start!
- We should not limit ourselves to confrontation! We can be constructive!
- Three Techniques to fight a good fight: 1. Go to dispersive actions rather than collective actions…2. Switch to a constructive mode rather than a confrontational mode..3. When we talk about gender violence we should make sure not to focus all our attention to ‘gender’! Let’s not forgot the root of the problem which is ‘violence’!
