Abolfazl Amir-Ataei, a 16-year-old from Tehran, Iran, tragically passed away on May 26, 2023. The Islamic Republic security forces shot him in the head during protests in September 2022 in Tehran.

Abolfazl suffered severe head trauma, rendering him unable to speak or move. His family faced emotional distress as they were initially denied access to him in
the intensive care unit.

Eventually, his mother was granted only 10 minutes a day with him. Despite surgeries and some signs of progress, Abolfazl's condition deteriorated, leading to his passing on May 26, 8 months after being shot.

Let us remember him, his aspirations, and the injustices he faced. May his story inspire us to strive for compassion, fairness, and equality.
